Yes I know, I am always announcing my undying love for my current stitchy projects and this is yet another in that unsurprising vein. A dresden plate quilt in quarterly style, made entirely with LOVE for my little lady Ciara (sssshhhhhh! don't tell) who shall be six on friday. Of course she has seen me make it but mummy sewing a quilt is part of the wallpaper of her life these days. She has said it is 'oh wow! very nice' as she skips past in song and imaginative play but she has no inkling that it has been stitched for her. Oh I love surprises!!!
The quilt was all machine made except for attatching the petals in their sets of four which was of course done by applique. Rather a nice match for the cushions in my shop too.
Thank you so much for all your kind words about mr robot on his cushion, I shall definately be gifting it now!!! I am sure my nephew shall come to adore it even if he is a little bemused at first!!!! That will definately be worth a few clicks on my camera!!!!
I have come to the conclusion that I have no solid reason for NOT handmaking all gifts for the foreseeable future. This shall prove more of a challenge for some recipients than others (any ideas on what to stitch up a rather opinionated husband shall be supremely gratefully recieved!). This means I will be stitching all the way to Christmas..................oh goody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Any ideas here on good tutorials online for gifts and decorations will be really jolly welcome and probably started on straight away!
Quite a busy week this week, I shall be really glad when it's all over and I can put my feet up and relax, stitching away a little something obviously!!!
Back soon!!!!
That is beautiful! A gentle present full of love. Thank you for sharing it - I needed that today.

Aneela,
I think you should give him a robot pillow! Hehe.
I have the same quandry, what to make for GUYS! I am thinking pillowcases, they are easy, fast, don't require a lot of fabric investment and practical (which most guys like, usually)

The quilt is wonderful -- old-fashioned and modern at the same time. And so many fun little surprises to discover! I'm sure Ciara will love it, especially since it will be her very own and stitched just for her with love.

The birthday girl will love her quilt. How much better does it get for a 6yr old, a quilt made especially for her by her Mommy and it's pink. Hope she has a great day.
