Are Anna Maria Horner's good folks designs inspired by the seventies??? This I do not know, however they remind me of nothing but that decade. All the fabrics used here were from a scrap swap I did with a very lovely ecopixie called regina. If you've never used AMH before, I urge you!! YOU MUST!!! They are such fun fabrics to hang around with for a few days, so colourfully peacock-y and shouty!!! Everyone is a diva looking in the mirror constantly!!!!! I loved making these blocks, no pattern was used.....can you tell!!! I made a few coins, did a little log cabin-ing and just went with what the fabrics told me to do! Boy these designs are bossy!!!!
So of course I am toning them down a little with some much sedating white sash-i-ness which is a bit of a cop out as they would probably look much the better-er with a huge bucket of colourfulness edging them.
I am just not that brave!!!!!!
I am planning to arrange the blocks as if they are kind of dancing. Don't know how easy this will be to acheive or even if it is possible but that is what I think needs to be done. Any ideas or thoughts on this would be highly appreciated and greatly considered!!!!
As for naming the quilt, I quite like the 'seventies party in a quilt' of the title or maybe I should just call it 'Look I really am capable of making an entire quilt without a single piece of Heather Ross fabric sometimes'.
What do you think??
Emergency craft project has been drafted up in the event of any time for myself moments over the next few days, highly unlikely as this eventuality may be, I like to be prepared!!!
Those blocks are really fun! I think they will make up into a super cute quilt, especially with the white sashing. Maybe you could add a colored border or is that going too far?

I'm such a huge fan of AMH too, but I soooo get what you mean.
I recognise that crochet picture and I like your choice of crafty distraction.

Oh, my gosh! I have been COVETING the AMH Good Folks line for sooooo long. Started collecting 1/2 yard cuts, then accidentally ordered 1/2 yards to complete my set and another complete set of fat quarters (24 fabrics! Etsy newbie -- don't ask. BUT -- its a problem I can live with. I actually dreamed of these prints last night as they were floating around in my brain. I keep changing my mind about how I want to use them, but as I have plenty, I guess I can use them in a couple of different quilts. A good "problem" to have!

I LOVE Good Folks! You could put it in a blender and make a milkshake out of her prints and they would still look good. Your blocks are fabulous- I think they would love to boogie with some red or hot pink sashing though!

I love the good folks line too, what about putting the blocks on point, so they look more like diamonds? Looks like you are having a lot of fun xo

That Anna maria Horner fabric is really pretty. I've been thinking about getting some of it for a queen size quilt for my bed...quite a project. You're right about the 70's theme. It was quite a crafty time; it makes me think of those jeans ripped on the side to be patched back again with beautiful fabris making the pants look wide at the bottom.

Gorgeous and I loved the way you described them. You could have them tilting left or right by doing the Sharon Craig method of adding sashing and trimming with the square ruler off set. Then you can sash them further with the white and they'd look how you dsescribed.
