Katy was one of the culprit-ees.  With her new circle quilt top.

Since Friday I have been going round and round in circles as that old chesnut goes.  Or rather round and round and round and round and round........

As you may have gathered, I have the round shape on the brain.

 

So while I am in that circumferencing mood, I have taken advantage and come full circle to produce my final piece for the Hoop Up swap on flickr.  This one is for Jennie/Sunflower quilt, who wanted overlapping circles in one colour.  And with this final piece, I have reached my destination that brings this swap to a full stop (and you know what shape that is...)

This block was requested to be made from this tutorial of Sherri's which was it turns out.......................................is part inspired by the string x quilt I made for my sister last year!!!!!!!!!!  How's that for quilty circumnavigation......... !!!!

Sorry if you are feeling a little dizzy after all that and need a little drink.  May I at least supply you with a picture of one....................you can try and drink it through your monitor if you like.

All houses should be made of quilt

 
Something you may not have previously known - My husband works in the construction industry.  He has been building houses pretty much his whole adult life and thinks he knows all there is about the how to's and how not's of making buildings to live in.

Wheras, I have found a more recent liking for house building - using my favourite tools of the trade, fabric and thread (and a touch of batting).  I'm sure many of you will agree that this makes for an altogether cosier and more beautiful home.  Although there is a slight drawback in that you cannot actually live in it (but I'm working on it).  Now all my freemotioning woes are history, I had alot of fun getting this one finished.  So please allow the pictures to talk......

This block is for Constanca (saidos da concha) in the euro bee,who wanted blocks made any which way but with 90 degree angles only - bit of a challenge!!

Watercolour spiderweb is finished!!!

 
It's done!! 

I think it took me about 4 weeks.

 
Tutorial here.  Original idea was by Holly.

 
49 blocks..............196 triangles.........and.....a....gazillion or two strips of choice all sorted in various hues of light orange, dark orange, yellow orange, orange, beige orange, mid orange.............believe me the sorting of the gradations of colour is tantamount to a career in itself.

Once all triangles were cut and marked, the most amount of striped triangles I was able to complete in one hour = 15!!!!!

 
One of my favourite bits is the kitty in one strip eyeing up the cream in the strip above!!

 

All quilted free motion, which had to be done as I can finally really actually free motion quilt and feel free of stress at the same time (at last!)
 
The back is 'Banded Poppy' by Philip Jacobs and it's bound in 'Prarie Rose' in newday by Denyse Schmidt. 

 
The great stash replenishment has already begun.  These were bought from On Board fabrics which have not only HR gems galore but absolutely superb service and quick delivery.  They come very highly recommended by me!!

I never realised just what I was undertaking when I started creating this. 

A spiderweb quilt, pieced from a choice selection of the very favourite bits of the most prized parts of my stash.  Washing in colours from deep pink to blue and all the lovely gradations and shades in between.  I have learned alot about colour and found myself in love with shades and combo's I'd previously only ignored whilst reaching for my usual red and aqua and pink fav's. 

So expect FAR far more!!!! variety in future.

I'm so sorry if you have passed by this week and wondered where on earth I'd got to.

The answer is a mundane story involving dentists (and ouch-y extractions), parents evenings (or rather afternoons) and all the other blah content of the modern day.

 
And in between, whenever I have a spare minute or six and in the absense of any helpful stitchy actual spiders, I have been busy on my web.  Working in nuances of green this week - a colour I usually find problematic but have got quite attatched to whilst making these.

 
Of course I managed to squeeze in a few slices of swing girls and scooting dogs.  Well, couldn't help myself, they kind of just fell in there.

And good news!!    I've  re- measured my bed and found I actually have quite a few less webs to make than I previously thought!!  whooo!!  hoo!!!
