Welcome to my day of the Fat Quartershop Blog Hop! If you've never hopped along here before, my name is aneela hoey and I've designed several lines for Moda including Sherbet Pips and A Walk In The Woods.
The purpose of this hop is to celebrate the launch of the 2012 designer mystery block of the month. We all love a mystery and when you combine mystery with fabric and make it last all year that can only be classed as a winning combination.
On to the FUN stuff, this year the fabric chosen for the BOM is Vintage Modern by Bonnie and Camille which leads my nicely on to the giveaway part of this post.
Up for grabs is one layer cake of my new line - a walk in the woods, kindly donated by Fat Quartershop (thank you!)
Each of the designer's in this hop were asked to pick something Vintage Modern from their closet's, all you have to do is guess what my vintage modern item is. The teeny pic above is your only clue to my item. The winner will be selected from all those who guess correctly.
Feel free to embellish your answer with as much detail as you can - perhaps you could tell me where I bought it, at what time and what I was thinking as I handed over the cash (this part is not necessary but you are more than welcome to give me a giggle with your thoughts).
You have 24 hours only to enter - so get your skates on!
Here are the remaining hop stops

Giveaway is now closed (thank you to all those who entered) - The winners and answers will be revealed on the Fat quartershop blog on Thursday 3/1.
Hmmm, looks like a dress to me? On a side note, I can't wait for some cooler weather here so I can wear dress and tights. And boots, love boots with dresses too. :)

It looks like a dress. I remember have a dress made out of similar material. Thanks for the giveaway
Posted by: Corinne | 02/17/2012 at 12:15 PM
Looks like a dress to me as well.
Posted by: willa | 02/17/2012 at 12:18 PM
Hmmm looks like a skirt or dress.Probably something you've made yourself! Thanks for the chance to win. MMM would be nice to win!
Posted by: Jackie Morrison | 02/17/2012 at 12:21 PM
I would say it looks like a dress:)
Posted by: Joan | 02/17/2012 at 12:24 PM
Looks like a funky top, hippy style to wear with a pair of flared jeans :)
Posted by: Anne Elias | 02/17/2012 at 12:25 PM
Love your fabric lines, thanks for the chance. I would say this looks like a skirt or dress and as for where you bought it...if it's vintage perhaps you found it in a thrift store?
Posted by: Kris | 02/17/2012 at 12:25 PM
it appears to be a dress...did you buy it in the spring, for the fall, for a steal??
Posted by: SarahZ | 02/17/2012 at 12:25 PM
i'm going to say peasant top (fab fabric!)...and you were probably thinking you would wear it all the time and the price wasn't terrible! (at least that's what I think when I buy clothes!) and then didn't wear it that often! (maybe just me again!) Love Walk in the Woods!
Posted by: Lesley Ainsworth | 02/17/2012 at 12:26 PM
OOh tricky. I think it is a blouse. Lovely colours.
Posted by: Freddie | 02/17/2012 at 12:28 PM
Your vintage modern piece is a sundress with a halter top and a lightly gathered skirt that is not full, but flowing.
Posted by: Penny G | 02/17/2012 at 12:33 PM
It looks like a skirt or dress.
Thanks for the chance to win!
Posted by: Susan | 02/17/2012 at 12:33 PM
I am thinking a peasant blouse or dress with a gathered empire waist. The fabric reminds me of the 70's...cute but I don't think I want to return to that..did it once! :)
Posted by: Chris | 02/17/2012 at 12:36 PM
A vintage dress, maybe you were thinking "Ohhh, I will be really the best looking "mom to be" .... was it a maternity? You bought it in London with a really good looking pair of boots and a hat!! LOL!!!
Posted by: Linda P | 02/17/2012 at 12:38 PM
It looks like a skirt, I'm guessing a maxi skirt with several ruffled sections.
Posted by: Marianne | 02/17/2012 at 12:41 PM
You were only 10 when you begged your mom to buy you this dress to wear to the Fall Festival at school. The festival was the highlight of the elementary school year. You had a darling orange headband to where with it, and of course, a fabulous little gold bag to carry - it was the perfect dress and you were the envy of all the other little girls. thanks for the fun mystery blog and giveaway.
Posted by: Deb F. | 02/17/2012 at 12:41 PM
Hmmm judging by the fabric, I hope it's a tablecloth, but I fear it's a dress. One of those dresses that you spot on a very posh looking lady and think "I will look so lovely in that dress!" then you get it home and realize you are neither 6 feet tall and blonde nor are you 110 pounds and the dress looks like a patterned paper bag.
Posted by: Katie | 02/17/2012 at 12:44 PM
I'm thinking it's a dress or skirt. :)
Posted by: TiffBlakey | 02/17/2012 at 12:48 PM
A vintage peasant mini-skirted dress. I'm sure you were thinking that you couldn't wait to wear it and be seen by your friends in such a "mod" outfit.
Posted by: trillium | 02/17/2012 at 12:57 PM
Have to go with my first impression: a dress (I know, not terribly original). That fabric brings back memories of a "peasant"-style dress I had. Hope you pick me....love ALL your designs! Hugs, Doreen
Posted by: Treadlemusic.wordpress.com | 02/17/2012 at 12:57 PM
I think it is a dress with a tie in the back, which was very stylish, until after you had kids and all the maternity dresses had ties in the back.....so you never wore it again. Thanks for the fun guessing game--love your fabrics!
Posted by: KT | 02/17/2012 at 01:00 PM
Your vintage modern item is flea market fancy fabric by Denyse Schmidt- which is soon to be re-released!!
Posted by: Leeann | 02/17/2012 at 01:03 PM
I think it's a dress as well ... I think I see a button there. Thanks for the opportunity!
Posted by: Janet | 02/17/2012 at 01:06 PM
My guess is that it's a skirt or dress with the frill along the bottom. No doubt it was the "in thing" in fashion when you bought it for a special occasion.
Posted by: Donna | 02/17/2012 at 01:11 PM
It is a piece of clothing with ruffles... probably a skirt as ruffles on skirts are making a big come back.....thanks for the chance to win some of your sEw, so cute fabric!!
Posted by: Pauline | 02/17/2012 at 01:12 PM
My guess is that it is a prairie skirt - a skirt with gathered tiers. I know that I had some and loved them and they've been popular again the past few years.
Posted by: Jenn A | 02/17/2012 at 01:13 PM
looks like a dress or top - I see little gathers on it - love the colors though and I especially love your fabrics!
Posted by: cindy b | 02/17/2012 at 01:14 PM
I think it's a shirt with big ruffled sleeve ends - very 60's70's... but it looks like a Flea Market Fancy print!
Posted by: Junebug | 02/17/2012 at 01:14 PM
Boy this is a hard one, I think it is a peasant skirt with gathers that you bought with your own hard earned money, and were so proud of. I think you wore it alot, very cute print. Thanks for your wonderful fabrics just adorable!!!
Posted by: Anita K | 02/17/2012 at 01:17 PM
I think is a dress!
Hugs from switzerland,
Milena
Posted by: Milena | 02/17/2012 at 01:17 PM
I think it is a dress that you made from some fabric you got on sale, and you wore it somewhere very special.
Posted by: Kristy | 02/17/2012 at 01:19 PM
It looks like a dress! Or maybe a children's pinafore.
Posted by: Siobhan | 02/17/2012 at 01:19 PM
is it an apron? Maybe you found it at a flea market and it reminded you so much of one your mom wore when you were a little girl... maybe she let you wear it sometimes while you helped her mix the batter for a birthday cake?
Posted by: Ellyn | 02/17/2012 at 01:22 PM
It looks like a peasant blouse and I bet you look adorable in it. :) The fabric is awesome and totally 70's. I would have worn something like this in middle school. Oh, no! Does that mean I'm vintage?
Posted by: Karin | 02/17/2012 at 01:23 PM
Looks like a Laura Ashley smock to me!
Posted by: Flying Blind | 02/17/2012 at 01:23 PM
Hmmmmm....I was going to say a skating cape, but with those gathers, I think it's a tiered skirt or dress!
Posted by: Lizzie | 02/17/2012 at 01:27 PM
I think it is a baby doll top with gathers on bodice - high waisted- and gathers on the lower end of the sleeves for fullness. Very comfortable to wear. Could be used as a maternity top or not.
Posted by: Sandy E | 02/17/2012 at 01:29 PM
I think is a peasant skirt and you loved the colors and the pleats and it was cozy to wear! thanks!
Posted by: lee | 02/17/2012 at 01:29 PM
At first I too thought it is a dress with a gathered empire waist, but now I'm thinking it is a peasant blouse with neat bell sleeves. I always wanted such a blouse in those original "hippy" days to go with the scrappy long skirt I made. Still sewing after all these years and love the new fresh fabrics such as your designs.
Posted by: lauraluvsloons | 02/17/2012 at 01:31 PM
i know exactly what it is! it's the dress you bought that one time in venice, at a lovely thrift shop you happened upon at just the right time... after you had fallen into the canal and were dripping wet. lucky you ;)
Posted by: rachael | 02/17/2012 at 01:31 PM
I think it's a broom stick skirt.
Posted by: Wanda S. | 02/17/2012 at 01:33 PM
I'm going with afternoon tea dress, bought for when you went to have tea with the queen to celebrate all your fabric designs...
Posted by: Katy | 02/17/2012 at 01:36 PM
It’s a fabulous peasant dress most likely you wore with nice dark brown boots and accessorized with a leather headband. Peace.
Posted by: Marlene | 02/17/2012 at 01:36 PM
It must have been a Laura Ingalls knock off skirt worn with granny boots, that since then you have repurposed into pillow shams!
Posted by: Laura Benthien | 02/17/2012 at 01:38 PM
I think it is a peasant dress/top!
Posted by: Cheryl | 02/17/2012 at 01:38 PM
Looks like a dress.I love the layer cake.
Posted by: Jill Froelich | 02/17/2012 at 01:42 PM
I think it is a jumper.
Posted by: Regina C | 02/17/2012 at 01:43 PM
Looks like it could be a skirt
Posted by: Christine | 02/17/2012 at 01:45 PM
I would gather it isn't something warm enough to wear skating, however it has to be a dress that you once loved and wore many times and just couldn't give it away!
Thakns for the chance to win some of your fabric :)
Posted by: Lois Wilhelm | 02/17/2012 at 01:46 PM
It's quite cute! Looks like a dress! A quite comfy one, perhaps from the 70s or 80s? :)
Posted by: Jeni | 02/17/2012 at 01:47 PM
Look like a dress, fabulous fabric with a fitted bodice and full gathered skirt. A great find in a vintage shop in NYC?
Posted by: Kathy T. | 02/17/2012 at 01:49 PM
I think it's a dress with a ruffled bottom. :)
Posted by: Mareenchen | 02/17/2012 at 01:50 PM
Looks like a dress. Perhaps a sundress for wearing to the beach. The breeze would make the flounce at the bottom dance!
Posted by: Shawn M. | 02/17/2012 at 01:51 PM
What fun!!! It looks like an handmade apron... a vintage modern item indeed !!! Cheers :o)
Posted by: Barbara E | 02/17/2012 at 01:53 PM
I think it's a button up dress...cool fabric!
Posted by: Dianne | 02/17/2012 at 01:55 PM
Looks like a dress or a skirt to me!!
Posted by: Keri | 02/17/2012 at 01:55 PM
Oh, is it a skirt? A skirt with pleats, a very twirly skirt? I hope so, because I'd like to think you put it on and then twirled around in the dressing room!
Posted by: Beth T | 02/17/2012 at 01:55 PM
I say a prarie skirt!
Posted by: Heather | 02/17/2012 at 01:57 PM
I'm guessing that it's a dress and the picture is showing the gathered waist. It reminds me of a dress I bought 15 years ago or so, but I don't wear it much anymore!
Posted by: Sarah | 02/17/2012 at 01:57 PM
I'm thinking it is a shirt with a little gathering at the shoulders. I can imagine that you came across it at a chic little thrift shop and couldn't pass on it because it reminded you of autumn walks in the park with your loved ones. I imagine while paying for this item you were thinking that you got an awesome deal on something that you will really love.
Posted by: Rebecca S. | 02/17/2012 at 02:04 PM
It reminds me of a prairie skirt I once had. Of course, you had a slip with a lace ruffle on the bottom that was a bit longer than the skirt so the lace would show. An awesome look. Thanks for the give away!
Posted by: Jacklynn Grimm | 02/17/2012 at 02:06 PM
This is a tough one, but I'll guess a blouse. You don't seem old enough to have something this vintage!
Posted by: Lisa Marie | 02/17/2012 at 02:07 PM
Oh I think it's a peasant dress or top, in my day ( which was a while ago...lol) we called them Granny dresses and we felt so bohemian and daring while wearing them with bellbottomed jeans. I imagine you felt just the same wearing this top!
Posted by: Mary ann | 02/17/2012 at 02:08 PM
I think it's a dress or skirt.
Posted by: Regina | 02/17/2012 at 02:11 PM
It's an apron! Or curtains...but I hope it's an apron!
Posted by: angiesue | 02/17/2012 at 02:11 PM
Maybe a dress from your childhood, the sort that always gets dragged out for your to wear with matching hair ribbon for photographs that will be sent to the relatives. DS has seen the pattern in an old photo you posted online and is developing the print for FMF3
Posted by: Kerry | 02/17/2012 at 02:13 PM
This fabric reminds me of my childhood. I'm thinking it is a skirt with a gathered ruffle at the bottom.
It looks like something my girls would find at my mom's house and beg me to take home so they could put it in their dress up box. I'd say yes reluctantly, but then they'd wear it to school!
Posted by: Jeanne | 02/17/2012 at 02:14 PM
Since there is a rather large ruffle my guess is a peasant skirt or dress. Probably one of those layered types, with rows of gathering.
Posted by: Jody R. | 02/17/2012 at 02:18 PM
It looks like a fantastically vintange fall dress to me!
Posted by: Sarah J | 02/17/2012 at 02:19 PM
It looks like a peasant top or dress. Maybe for a little girl. Those colors look like the 70's. We had a sofa in those colors!
Posted by: Christina | 02/17/2012 at 02:19 PM
It looks like an apron to me, although I guess that would be an interesting color for an apron.
Posted by: Helen | 02/17/2012 at 02:24 PM
A ruffle on an apron maybe.
Posted by: susan | 02/17/2012 at 02:28 PM
I'm guessing it to be a dress. Thanks for the opportunity to win!
Posted by: Del | 02/17/2012 at 02:30 PM
I'm going with peasant top as they flow in the wind while you're skating, help you to cool off. In the 70's I wore a lot of these kinds of tops
Posted by: Susan B | 02/17/2012 at 02:31 PM
I'm going to guess it's a skirt. One of those comfy skirts you can throw on when you don't want to worry about what might show when you bend over!
Posted by: LouAnn | 02/17/2012 at 02:35 PM

Looks like a skirt to me. But I don't think you bought it - I think you made it. Love the colors.
Posted by: Annmarie | 02/17/2012 at 02:36 PM
It kinda looks like a skirt to me.
Posted by: karenca | 02/17/2012 at 02:45 PM
The ruffle makes me think it is either a skirt or a dress.
Posted by: Ann | 02/17/2012 at 02:46 PM
I'm with everyone else thinking it might be a dress?......or curtains???
Posted by: Tina Irene | 02/17/2012 at 02:46 PM
I say it's a pretty vintage dress which you bought back in the 90's at a second hand store. And you've wear it for your first date with your hubby;-)
Thanks for the giveaway, Hildy
Posted by: Hildy | 02/17/2012 at 03:00 PM
I'm thinking apron. Kind of new, but made with vintage looking fabric.
Posted by: Alisa | 02/17/2012 at 03:00 PM
oh, it's definitely a dress and a cute one at that!
Thanks so much for the giveaway!
Posted by: elsa | 02/17/2012 at 03:03 PM
It's a skirt that you bought for your Fiance's sisters wedding - you thought you'd make an impression on the family that you hadn't met yet, only part way through the ceremony you realised it was covered in pacmans eating the flowers......
Posted by: Liz M | 02/17/2012 at 03:04 PM
You had to go this fall on a hay ride and made the prairie style skirt for the event. The fabric had all the colors of fall, but you now you hope to be invited again so you can pull it out ......it's just not your real taste! Of course I got the idea of taste from your gorgeous choice of color in your design fabrics! And what I see in the pictures on your site.
Posted by: Doris w | 02/17/2012 at 03:07 PM
I think it may be a blouse that you bought for a date
Posted by: Mina | 02/17/2012 at 03:14 PM
I'd have to say it was a peasant top or dress. Those bring back memories from my high school days. How funny styles change through the years. Thanks, Karen M
Posted by: Karen M | 02/17/2012 at 03:15 PM
I am guessing it is a lovely long skirt. Perhaps even with two or three layers of ruffels. I still love those so much! Thanks for the fun!
Posted by: martina | 02/17/2012 at 03:18 PM
Looks like a dress to me.
Posted by: Amy | 02/17/2012 at 03:18 PM
I think a blouse, and I'm quite certain that you bought it at a little rummage sale.
Posted by: Nancy | 02/17/2012 at 03:20 PM
It sure looks like the apron/smock that my grandmother would wear all day long...it tied in the back and had pockets on the sides, that held pencils & lipstick...circa 1960
Posted by: Catherine | 02/17/2012 at 03:23 PM
a skirt?
Posted by: Danielle M | 02/17/2012 at 03:25 PM
Oh my....this is a hard one because when I think of things with a ruffle, it could be a dress, skirt, blouse, curtain or table cloth! Whatever it is, it is a beautiful print!
Posted by: Tammy W. | 02/17/2012 at 03:30 PM
It sure looks like a dress, skirt or top, with ruffles. Thanks for a chance to win.
Posted by: Sally Hurst | 02/17/2012 at 03:31 PM
I think it is a dress with some ruffles...
Posted by: Erin P | 02/17/2012 at 03:32 PM
Oh yours is a tough one to guess. Because of the Fall colors I'm going to guess it is an art smock you just begged your Momma to buy for you to wear in art class at school. You just loved those colors and were so proud to go to art class with your pretty colored smock with the gathered bodice that flowed at the bottom to cover your good school clothes.
Posted by: VickiT | 02/17/2012 at 03:32 PM
I think it's a dress. You would fit in if you wore it on That 70's Show. :)
Posted by: Mickey | 02/17/2012 at 03:35 PM
I'm thinking it is a ruffled peasant skirt
Posted by: sndy1 | 02/17/2012 at 03:36 PM
That ruffle just screams peasant blouse or dress!
Posted by: Kathi Schaffer | 02/17/2012 at 03:36 PM
a vintage frock.
Posted by: Mazie C | 02/17/2012 at 03:38 PM
