The lady chair has arrived!!!!!!!!!!! She arrived last night with her new friend otherwise known as the new big sofa (which will mostly be for my hubby to stretch out on after a hard old day doing whatever it is he does). They will soon be joined by a smaller version of the new big sofa - currently still under construction, which will be mostly be sat on by my daughters telling each other to get out of the way of the telly.
But let's not talk about the other sofa's, lets talk about my new lady seat - a long time longed for piece of upholstered comfort for ladies what lounge (that's me). You can clearly see the infuence of many many hours watched of episodes of miss marple. I have always hankered after the kinds of seats she sits on drinking tea and knitting whilst unravelling one mystery after another and that is precisely what I plan to do too, knit whilst drowning myself in tea and solving stuff I can't make sense of.
I of course had to stitch up a new cushion or two especially for my new chair (I had to pass the waiting time somehow) and tried to remember the colours of the plaid whilst picking my fabrics. I used some far far away 3 by heather ross, pez by american jane, bliss by bonnie and camille and hope valley by denyse schmidt.
The quilt block I used was a modified version of one I put together for a new pattern of mine called 'Festive', I haven't started selling it yet but it is available at Fat Quarter Shop in both pdf and print versions already if you are interested. In this version I have used several fabrics together instead of just two.
This one is a new pillow using my scoot print from sherbet pips I stitched up this morning using the same pattern - this one uses only two fabrics like the blocks in the pattern.
So that's it for this week - I will of course be spending a lot of time lounging this weekend but before that I plan to make some Canelloni tonight using leftover pancakes from Tuesday instead of the pasta - I've tried this before and it's scrumptious, if you've never given it a go, please do.
Hehe, yay! They're here! They look great :)
Love the new pillows!

Very nice....but don't think of it as a sofa for your husband. We all know it is really a piece on which to display all your pretty pillows.......

Love that "Ladies' chair"!!! The colors/plaid will be so easy to live with for a long time, to say nothing of how comfy it is. A mini sofa! Your color choices are lovely and a perfect backdrop for your beautiful creations! If you think of it, please, post a bit of recipe for that Cannelloni idea of yours. "Cozy" hours ahead for you and quilting hours ahead for me (day just beginning here!-) Hugs, Doreen

Love your new furniture and your lady chair is perfect for stitching :)
Love the plaids and colors in it and your pillows are a perfect compliment to your new chair! Isn't it fun to get new furniture?

Sitting pretty, Aneela! If that chair is as comfy as it looks, you'll enjoy many, many hours in its embrace, dreaming up wonderful fabrics, cushions, quilts..... Good idea, getting Hubby a nice loooong sofa to stretch out on. I should have tried that when we got our new sofa. We settled for a sofa which he found comfy, and now I feel like Alice in wonderland on furniture which is far too big (My hubby is much, much taller that little I am)

I love the 'lady chair', it looks so at home there watched over by the big 'man' lounge chair. Your new cushions are devine and the pillow cases dreamy. The girls new tablecloth is beautiful.

Lovely new sofa and chair. We had two new sofas this week. What a relief to have something comfortable to sit on. Ours were 17yrs old and shot. I too am making cushions. I like the nesting feeling. Di xo

Too funny...I JUST finished watching the last of the Miss Marple mysteries! I just loved her so much...the actress Joan Hickson was perfect for the role. I can sympathize with the dilemma of making sofa choices that fit both you and your husband's ideals. We just found our own perfect sofa a few months ago. It will change your life for the better!
