There are some things I am quite confidently good at. You know when you are happily content in your blissful cocoon of ease at being able to do something you quite enjoy. In this little box of smugness I would quite happily place sewing and blogging. I am completely self taught in both these little large hobbies of mine and just find my way around quite easily now that I sort of know what I'm doing. There are other things I would wish to be able to do better or maybe even be able to do at all. In this pile, sitting quite shamefully on the top like a blemished cherry, I would probably place creating a pdf file (or rather Please Don't Frustrate yourself file). This is what I have been trying to do all day thus far, in my usual style of 'try it and you will find a way eventually' as I don't have a clue but have a go anyway............I have got as far as being able to create one only it has to have just words or just pictures (just not both together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).
Is there anybody out there (???!) who can help me?????????????????????
any PDF tech-ie wizards??? completely computer-abled persons, I need you!!!
Oh well thank goodness I can sew! else I'd have nothing to show you!!!
I've turned my aliens in the christmas tree patchwork into another..............
as if you couldn't have guessed(!).......cushion!!!
And it will probably take me now until then to work out the PDF nightmare (and that is a very optomistic dream if ever there was one!!!).
Calling all purchasers of my spoonflower christmas fabrics!!!!!!!! - I would love to see anything you have made or started with my designs and add a few links on my blog so others can see what you are upto too!!!!! Not that we are nosy you understand..........
LOVE your Christmas tree aliens, Aneela! Your color scheme is fantastic and all that juicy wonkiness! Yum! OK, maybe I can help with the PDF? You may get a better offer from a true wizard but I am generally OK when it comes to creating a PDF. What's up?

If you open a new WORD document, type what ever you want into it and "save as" PDF file. If you want pictures, before you save, add pictures by using the "insert" button at the top of the screen. Then "save as" PDF fileOnce you have saved a PDF file, you cannot alter it, as it will not allow you. Hope this helps. Kath

Hiya, Aneela. If you can do what you want to do in Word, I can recommend downloading doPDF (just google it), which will act as a printer of sorts. You just act as if you were printing your word doc by sending it to the printer called doPDF. Easy ... and that's how I do it at work and at play.

Maybe aliens ask Santa for tech support gift cards? Then they could share them with you and help you out.
I'm clueless (as usual)...but praying for you just the same!

I know. I am like you who does not ask for help (directions while driving yes) but not when it comes to my hobbies.

One more vote for starting with Word. But I use a free program called cutePDF to change it. I have been using it for about a year with no buggy issues. And it didn't explode my computer when I downloaded both little programs you need to run it.

If the above comments didn't help you in figuring out how to do a pdf, my husband is an expert and will teach you through me if you're interested. He just needs to know what program you are working in. Write me at amanda8426@aol.com if you still need help!
LOVE your Christmas tree!

I'm with Angela - cutePDF works like a charm. Just google it, press on their download (or install?) button and you're away to the races. It will show up as one of your printer options when you click "print" at the top of your document. Select cutePDF as your printer, then another window will open asking you where you'd like to save it. Select "Aneela's awesome tutorials" folder and presto, it will be saved as a pdf there for you! Good luck. Don't fret. Tackle that blemished cherry!

Hi, Aneela. I'm afraid I can be of no help with the PDF problem. However, on Friday after work I am going to a fabric sale and hope to score so fabrics for my Christmas pillows. Wish me luck and perhaps you will soon see some Christmasy goodness in your fabric.

Oh -- and I LOVE the Christmas tree with the little gnome on top!

Your fussy-cut tree is fantastic! I think it's the gnome that really gets me.
As for the PDF - what I do, being tech-challenged, is scan and import pictures, drawings, etc., into my word processor (pages, word, etc). I can type around them because they act like a photograph, even if they aren't. Then, when I've got it the way I like, I can export (save or what-have-you) to a PDF. If I can design my logo on a word processor, I'm betting you can handle the PDF. Just remember that you are actually smarter than it is and it's not smart enough to realize it. :-)
