Welcome to my post for the Bloggers Quilt Festival 2012. If you have never visited before, my name is aneela hoey and I have a bit of a habit when it comes to the stitchy stuff especially making quilts. I also love to embroider lots, work as a fabric designer with Moda and am a soon to be published author for my first book Little Stitches.
My entry for the festival is my Bloom quilt, which I made from my own pattern. The idea of a multi layered dresden came to me last summer when I put together a double dresden pillow which completely convinced me I needed to go bigger and quiltier and well pinker. The result of which is this blooming number.
The quilt is made up of four machine pieced dresden rings which I then hand appliqued onto the background fabric. I echo quilted around the outline of the largest dresden all the way out to the corners of the quilt on my machine - it took a whole day and a ton of thread but I love the end result of all that quilty texture surrounding the central bloominess.
Finished quilt size is 73" x 73"
Pattern can be found here.
Fabrics used are from my Sew Stitchy line (out in August) and moda bella solid is Sisters Pink

yup, still loving it! Can't wait to have my very on, oh genius pattern-designer woman that you are :-D

I love this quilt and so glad to see it again for the festival! Just beautiful. It makes something as traditional as a dresden seem fresh and modern.

I think you may have a winner with this quadruple dresden design! I love it . It reminds me of a pink peoney...which BTW is my favorite flower! I will be trying out this design!!!!! I tried to click on the "here" to get the pattern, but it didn't work. Can you let me know where to get the pattern again?
